Language of Graffitti

Within the world of graffitti art, artists and "taggers" are identified by their unique tagging name, which is most often represented through the used of stylized lettering or symbols. These names are used to sign pieces of art, to show the daring of a tagger when affixed to bridges or other hard to reach areas, to make jibes at rivals, or by gang affiliated taggers to denote gang territory. The language of graffiti can be difficult to read on its own, but once decoded the spray-paint transforms the symbols and images into an intricate system used by taggers to make their mark across cities worldwide.
