Fractals in the Sky

Through the use of photo editing software, the photographer has enhanced this image of clouds against a blue sky to show the seemingly whispy cloud is indeed a naturally occuring fractal, or an object which displays self-similar structure over the whole of its scale range. The image illustrates that, like the famous Mandelbrot set, the cloud itself a larger image which, when broken down, is made up of parts which in scale and shape resemble the greater whole.
