The Death of Socrates

The trial and execution of Socrates took place in 399 B.C. Socrates was tried for corrupting the youth and impiety; modern thinkers have determine that Socrates was executed for asking philosophical questions on the nature of authority, belief, and ethics. Although no works by Socrates survive, Plato composed numerous "Socratic dialogues" that detail his philosophical commitments.
