The course uses film and media to explore the relationship between culture and politics in the turbulent period before the rise of Hitler. The course will center around such concepts as democracy and fascism; urbanity and technology; sexuality and crime; and the role of visual media in modernity. Satisfies the Historical Studies or Social and Behavioral Sciences breadth requirement in Letters and Science. Taught in English.
