This course is designed to give students an appreciation and understanding of the linguistic and literary heritage of the Classical Irish period (1200-1650) when the Gaelic world was both politically and culturally strong and vibrant. Students will be introduced to key prose and poetry texts from this period, will gain an appreciation of the metrical system of Classical Gaelic poetry, and will examine the main linguistic and literary processes of the period.
