Explores the most dynamic literary achievements of Roman literature in translation. Addresses the intellectual and cultural community of Rome, focusing on major themes in Roman views of identity, morality, politics, and religion. Emphasis will be placed on the interplay between Rome and now, exploring the question of how Roman culture and thought recurs in our (Western) thinking.
