Evolution, Information, and Semiosis
General Catalog Course Title:
Evolution, Information, and Semiosis
Terms Offered:
Fall 2015

Theories of information in the computational biological sciences and semiotic theories in the humanities and social sciences are incompatible in many respects, but there has been a recent revival of efforts to bring these realms together. In this advanced seminar we will explore the historical development of these different intellectual threads and read and critique some of the efforts to find common ground.
